Join LA's Leader in Actor Workshops

Actors Creative Environment (ACE)

At ACE Studios, actors learn from industry professionals and gain the necessary tools to enrich their acting career.  We feature numerous casting director workshops, specialized classes and intensives, and free events.

We offer both in-person and online classes— you don’t need to be an LA local to work with our amazing guests. We always put the actors first and strive to provide the best classes for the best prices. Period.

Interact with industry professionals and fellow actors.
We also offer online workshops and voiceover classes.
We have a complete voiceover studio and self-taping facility... all in-house!
Industry-leaders bring interesting insights to our members.

Grow, connect, and thrive

We founded ACE Studios to create more than just another workshop space. We wanted a home base for artists—a tight-knit, supportive community where learning never stops and creativity is always welcome.

At ACE Studios, we’re all about helping you elevate your craft. From immersive workshops and intensives to top-tier self-tape and voiceover services, we’re here to support your journey every step of the way. If you can dream it, we’ve probably already built it—or we’re working on it now.

This is a studio built for actors, by actors. We know the hustle. That’s why every detail of your experience here is designed to be both effective and enjoyable. While the industry evolves, we aim to be a steady light on your path—offering excellence, consistency, and genuine connection.

We’re beyond grateful you’ve chosen to spend time with us. Whether you’re dropping in or growing roots, we can’t wait to welcome you again and again. And hey, if you love what we’re building—bring a friend!

Real reviews from guest instructors and members.

Andrew EnglishActor

ACE Studios has become a second family for me. Thanks to the high-quality workshops & affordable costs of the classes they have available, I have been able to make wonderful industry connections for life and at the same time strengthen my acting craft. I can truly say without ACE Studios I would not be at this point in my career.

Ivana SkelinActor

If I had known how kind, encouraging and supportive the community at Ace Studios is, I wouldn’t have waited so long to get back into acting!!!

Thank you for providing a safe and supportive place for us to meet other filmmakers in our community, and for helping us grow strong in our craft!

Jeffrey ToddCasting Director

Brett, I wanted to take a moment to honor you. You’ve truly built something special at ACE Studios. Your instincts about people are spot on—everyone you’ve brought on has such great energy... Thank you again for continuing to invite me back. I love teaching here—it’s always a joy to be part of what you've built!

Ben ScattoneActor

ACE Studios' workshops have really helped me take casting off of a pedestal. I’m no longer self-taping what I think they want. Instead, my self-tape is a glimpse of what I would do with the role.

Jessica ShermanCasting Director

I’ve had the pleasure of teaching at ACE Studios for over ten years, and it remains one of the only places I continue to teach in Los Angeles—because it’s simply one of the best. The talent that walks through the door is consistently open, prepared, and ready to dive in. But more than that, ACE Studios is a space that feels truly safe—not just for me as a teacher, but for the actors as well.

Skyler ZurnCasting Director

ACE Studios is a creative home for actors who are serious about growth and building relationships. It is a supportive and yet challenging environment built to receive constructive feedback and build a tight-knit community of fellow artists who will walk this journey with you. ACE Studios will help you break out of your comfort zone and output the creative energy you need to grow as a performer in a high-stakes situation.

Self Taping

Create professional reels at ACE Tapes, a division of ACE Studios!

There’s a lot of places in town to self-tape, even more since COVID changed the industry. Our goal is to provide a comfortable space, where you can leave with a professionally edited and compressed tape. We have worked with the best in the business to make sure each tape has exceptional lighting, audio, and video.

  • High-quality audio and video
  • Professional lighting – once we move locations, we will bring back our Keno-Flo lighting system
  • Experienced reader(s)
  • Editing/compressing – one take for longer scenes, 2-3 for shorter scenes
  • Choice of delivery format
  • Quick turnaround – within 60 minutes!

We are here for you— let us do the heavy lifting! No more scrambling for a reader, worrying about audio or sifting through 100’s of takes. We take care of it all!

Frequently Asked Questions

What time zones are classes held in?

As we are LA-based, all of our classes are posted in the Pacific time zone. Though we might have guests from around the country, we will always be working in the Pacific time zone.

Do you offer online classes?

Yes! With our online class option, you can be anywhere in the world.

PLEASE read the entire class event before signing up. All classes will always start with a Q&A on Zoom.  With scenes, some teachers prefer self tapes (normally due 24 hours before class), and others prefer live scenework over zoom (perform online after the Q&A).  Check the format note on each class – it will have all updated info.

When sending a self tape or sides, please always label: YourName_Role_TV/FilmName.We get so many tapes and scenes from retapes, to future classes etc.  Labeling correctly helps us out tremendously =)

What if I'm running late or have to leave class early?

If you are running late, please always email us and we will let the teacher know. Be aware though that some CDs do not allow late arrivals to class.

If you ever have to leave early, also please let us know ahead of time. With in person full group/classroom format classes, CDs expect you to stay the whole time – if you have an emergency let us know and we can relay it to the teacher. Please be aware that some teachers have wrap up Q&As, give notes at end and have special lesson plans geared towards actors staying the entire time.

What is the cancelation policy?

If you cancel a workshop at least 48 hours before it starts, you will receive a credit for the full amount which you can use towards any other workshop. If you cancel after the 48-hour deadline, you will not receive credit unless your spot is filled and the class is sold out. Certain workshops/classes may have different policies regarding cancellation, so please check the information provided or contact us with any questions.

What scene can I bring in?

Always check the “Sides Note” on the class event page on what scenes that particular class requires.

For Classes where you provide your own scenes, please see below:

You can bring in your own material – this is only permissible if the show/film has ALREADY aired or never will. You cannot bring in scenes from current auditions. To get your own sides checked and approved. Please label the file: YourName_ROLE_TV/FilmName – Make sure to list the Film/TV show (and episode # so that we can verify it’s already aired) in the email to us. This is a CSA rule that all workshop companies have to follow. Our only other rule is that the scene must be a maximum of 3 pages– if you wish to use sides with several scenes, please choose a scene or cut them accordingly. This includes any sides we have listed on our site.

We do have an ACE Library that you can choose from if you want – email us for the link. You can also find the link when you are first logged into your ACE account (it’s linked on the welcome page).

PLEASE NOTE: Certain workshops may list specific genres the industry professional prefers– these are not mandatory but are greatly encouraged. However, if the workshop details state that you must use the sides provided by that specific industry professional, there’s no way around it. They have chosen those sides for a reason, and it’s mandatory that you prepare one of their selections.

Please read the workshop details carefully, as refunds will not be provided if you fail to prepare the correct sides.

Are your Q&A's mandatory?

Yes. We (as well as our CDs) require that all actors attend the Q&A. We begin every class with them for a reason – they are a tremendous way to learn many things that are specific to each individual CD. If you absolutely can’t attend, you MUST email us in advance to let us know.

Will the guest view and/or take my headshot and resume?

Workshops are a learning experience. It is not an audition or an employment opportunity. When the workshop is over, the casting director/casting associate/casting assistant (whichever is applicable) will not be taking home nor be given access to your headshot, resume, or any other of your promotional materials.

However, when you perform, the guest will view your headshot and resume- they will provide feedback, take notes, and give constructive criticism. After you perform, they will return your materials. Everyone goes green!

What is your standard class curriculum?

ALWAYS, we will start with a group Q&A. In this open forum, our guest will

  • Introduce themselves, talk about any show or shows that they’re working on (if permitted), and how their office works.
  • They will also provide general audition tips, business tips and educational information on how they feel is the best way for actors to approach auditions when they are auditioning, as well as how important it is for them to keep their resumes, website, etc. updated.
  • Actors are encouraged to bring as many questions as possible. Our guests love answering questions and giving actors insight to the business. Other topics often include headshots, the importance of being prepared, specifics on comedy/drama, and the importance of honing cold reading skills.

After the Q&A, actors will perform scenes for the guest. These will be performed in either:

  • Full group setting for all actors to watch and learn. They will hear all feedback and redirects. (All online classes follow a full group format).
  • Small Group Setting, where actors will go into the room in groups of 3-5. One actor will perform at a time, while the other actors watch feedback and redirection. After each other in the group has performed, everyone will leave.
  • Dynamic Duo, where actors will go into the room in groups of 2. They will perform one at a time, while the other actor watches feedback and redirection. Once both actors have performed, they will leave and the next duo will go in the room.
  • If more questions arrive in either of these settings, they too will be answered!

The guest will provide feedback and/or re-directs whenever possible. The guests will not be taking the headshots, but actors should still bring them so the guest can provide feedback and comments on both pictures and resumes.

Do you offer refunds?

No, we do not offer refunds for workshop cancellations or reschedules. Workshop times and dates are subject to change, as our guests keep very busy schedules. However, you will receive credit in your ACE Studios account for what was paid; that credit can be used towards a future purchase, within 12 months.

Do you offer "Go Earlies"?

Yes, you are allowed to “go early” and get bumped up on the list for any event. Please note the following:

  • You MUST select Go Earlier from within your control panel, on the event page. The process is automatic.
  • There may be other actors who have requested to go early ahead of you. In this case, you will get the next available, earliest slot.
  • You are only allowed to do this THREE times a year, after that, you must stick with the slot you registered for. You can see how many Go Early credits you have for the year on our account dashboard.

How do I cancel an event?

Cancelling a class is easy– just login to your account and check your upcoming events. Select the workshop you wish to cancel and click the Cancel Event button.

Please note– we have a 48-hour cancellation policy. If you are outside that window, your account will automatically be credited the amount paid for the event. In the case that you cancel less than 48 hours before, your account will only be credited if your spot is filled. NOTE: This will only happen if the spot is filled in a sold-out workshop.

Where can I view the CSA Workshop Guidelines?

We are committed to following all of the CSA Guidelines for workshops. They can be viewed here: CSA Guidlines

How does the waitlist system work?

If you have tried to register for a class that is full, you have the option of adding yourself to the waitlist. If a spot happens to open before the class starts, everyone on the list will get an automatic notification email. If you are the first person to sign up, the spot is yours.

Also, if you arrive in person and wish to be added to a waitlist, we will let you know if any spots have become available. If not, we will write your name down and if someone happens to late cancel, you can take the spot.

Where do I park?

We have reserved spaces in the lot along the side of the building. You can park in any space that says “ACE Studios” or that is blank. Please keep “ACE Tapes” & “ACE Studios CDs Only” open for instructors. There is also parking out front on Victory Blvd., Orange Grove Ave., and Palm Ave. Please read all street signs!

What do I need to do/bring on the day of the event?

Please make sure you arrive by the start of your class. If you are going to be late, just call/email the studio and let us know!

When you arrive at the studio, please have the following:

  • TWO copies of your sides (one is for the reader). These must be stapled and have your name in the upper right corner. Also, make sure to highlight the readers lines.
  • A headshot and resume to be reviewed by the teacher/guest.
  • A journal to take notes if you wish– we will not provide you with these.

How do I register for an event?

Registration is easy. Once you have found the class you want to take follow these steps:

  • Click the Register Event button.
  • Choose one of the available positions to reserve your performance slot time.
  • Click the Add to Cart button.
  • If you are ready to check out immediately, click the Proceed to Checkout button and follow the payment process.
  • Instead of immediately checking out, you can also choose to Continue Shopping.
  • A shopping cart icon will always display at the top-right of your dashboard. If there are items in your cart, you will see how many highlighted in red.
  • Please note: You will have 20 minutes to checkout once an event is in you cart. During this time the slot is reserved for you on a pending basis. If you fail to checkout within that time, it will be removed from your cart automatically.
  • You will receive a confirmation email with your receipt, and you will also receive a reminder email the day before the event.

The only other rule to follow is that they must be a maximum of 3 pages– if you wish to use sides with several scenes, please choose a scene or cut them accordingly.
