LESSON PLAN:
This 2-week class will focus on how to prepare and nail a procedural audition. Please only register if you can attend BOTH dates:
- Thursday, 12.9 @ 5pm
- Thursday, 12.16 @ 5pm
WEEK 1:
Lecture covering the following topics:
- My casting background
- What is a procedural?
- The basics of script analysis (who, what, where, when, why?)
- The importance of watching TV as homework and how to gain insight from it for your auditions
- How does your role fit into the larger story?
- The importance of wardrobe/hair/make-up choices
Scenework: Cold Reading Co-Star sides. There is nothing to prepare in advance.
WEEK 2:
Lecture covering the following topics:
- How to analyze the power dynamics in a scene
- How to identify and highlight important facts
- How to color the story with your point of view
- Feeling and conveying confidence in the audition room
- How to interpret confusing direction
- The role of the casting director
Scenework: Guest Star scenes. Will be assigned 24-48 hours prior to class.
Actors will have an opportunity at the end of each class to ask questions, so as to address specific concerns and gain further understanding of the day’s lesson.

Format Note: This class will take place entirely on Zoom!
Week 1: We will send out a link before class starts - just join the meeting, and we will begin. We will start w/ a live Q&A, covering the lesson plan above. Kendra will email out cold read costar scenes - Actors will perform live on Zoom
Week 2: Kendra will assign scenes a few days before class. Actors will then self tape their scene and email us a downloadable link to access the tape. Tapes are due before week 2 Q&A. Kendra will provide written feedback for each tape and actors can retape applying the notes given.
