Nick's Lesson Plan For All Workshops
- Q&A (I always open Q&A by encouraging the students to ask the questions they've really always wanted to know; anything that might help to demystify what goes on outside the audition room; questions they may be intimidated to ask other industry members; questions about their personal journeys especially if they're hitting roadblocks)
- The presentation of the audition beyond the actor's actual performance. How to make the most of the picture you're in. How to create the environment of the scene using just yourself, a blank wall and maybe a prop. What good auditions look and sound like.
- The map of the scene. Where your character came from before the scene and where they may be headed after. Rhythm, pacing. Touching on each of the intended emotional beats.
- The performance. An examination of the actor's choices and why those either feel right or could be adjusted. How to weave yourself into the world of the piece. Styles of storytelling and how to deploy them. Using the breakdown to your advantage.
