Jordan's Lesson Plan For All Workshops:
*note: All workshops are designed to be an educational environment, not an audition nor promise of employment.
Objective: The students will practice cold-reading audition techniques in a direct feedback working environment.
- Lead-In: Short bio and introduction of teacher
- Q & A: Students are encouraged to ask any relevant questions about auditioning, self-taping, demo reels, headshots, or the ‘business’ in general. *note: all answers reflect teacher’s specific opinions.
- Cold-Reading: Teacher will provide each student with a unique scene tailored to his/her ‘type’. Students will be given approximately 15 minutes to prepare the assigned scene. Each student will work one-on-one, reading the scene with teacher, and receive specific and constructive feedback. In a classroom setting, other students will watch the feedback and redirection in order to maximize the learning environment – students can learn just as much watching others work as they can from working themselves.
Wrap-Up: All scenes to be returned to teacher. No headshots, resumes or promotional materials will be given to teacher.
Sides Note: Cold Reading. Jordan will assign scenes at the start of class.
Format Note: Small Group. After the Q & A, actors will go into the room in groups of 3-5. One actor will perform at a time, while the others watch the feedback and redirection. After each actor in the group has performed, everyone will leave. The next group of 3-5 will come in, and we will continue like this until everyone in the workshop has performed.
