Gary Zuckerbrod is a Head Casting Director!
Gary M. Zuckerbrod has been a member of the community for over 30 years.
Gary served as president of the Casting Society of America from January 2002 till January 2004 and again in 2009. He also served as Chairman of the Steering Committee for Unionization of the Casting Directors and Casting Associates in their successful campaign for Union Representation. Gary is proud to be the Union Shop Steward for Television Casting Directors.
As a leader in the Casting Community Gary has been committed to increasing public awareness of the role of the Casting Director. Additionally he was the representative for the Casting Directors of California at the California State Labor Commission Hearings of 2003 for standardization of Casting Director taught acting workshops. Gary is a co-author of he California State Casting Director Workshop Guidelines that codify the curriculum for acting classes taught by Casting Directors and Casting Associates.
Gary continues to teach Audition Technique at various schools in Los Angeles and San Francisco and guest lectures at UCLA, The Screen Actors Guild and the SAG Foundation.

Gary's lesson plan for all workshops:
- An introductory talk about the do's and don't's of the audition process. Additionally, Gary will discuss preparing for an audition, how to dress, access the audition room, analyzing sides and material. A discussion about demo reels, the reality of competing in the LA market, etc. will be addressed. There will be a short Q&A before the readings.
- Actors will read in front of the class opposite Gary. Notes, direction and observations will be given on the reading and then the actor will read again after the adjustment.
- Often a number of actors in the class will read the same material so that they get a greater understanding of what Casting Directors, Directors and Producers observe in an audition.
- A discussion of pictures and resumes will take place after the readings.
- At the end of the class there will be another Q & A.

Class format:
Actors will be given sides approximately 48 hours in advance in much the same way an actor going to audition for a casting office would get them.

After an introductory talk and opening Q & A, Gary will give his views on preparing for an audition, understanding and assessing the audition room, do's and don't's about auditioning, submitting, dressing, demo reels, head shots and maintaining contact with a casting office.
Each actor will read with Gary in the same way it would take place in his office.
Actor's readings will be taped. Gary will give a critique and direction and the actor will read the scene again with him.
Each actor is expected to watch their readings between class sessions. At the beginning of the 2nd and 3rd class, he will go to each actor to hear what they have to say about what they observed about the first and second reading of the scenes they did the prior week.
In the 2nd and 3rd week the material given will be geared to Gary's observations from the first class based on his evaluation of an actor's strengths and weaknesses.
At the end of each class there will be a Q & A.
NOTE: As this class is an intensive, please do not sign up for another event on these evenings! This class will use a full group setting!
