FAQs
Info About Online Classes
With our online class option, you can be anywhere in the world!
PLEASE read the entire class event before signing up. All classes will always start with a Q&A on Zoom. With scenes, some teachers prefer self tapes (normally due 24 hours before class), and others prefer live scenework over zoom (perform online after the Q&A). Check the format note on each class - it will have all updated info.
When sending a self tape or sides, please always label: YourName_Role_TV/FilmName *We get so many tapes and scenes from retapes, to future classes etc. Labeling correctly helps us out tremendously =)

I'm running late or have to leave early
If you are running late, please always email us and we will let the teacher know. Be aware though that some CDs do not allow late arrivals to class.
If you ever have to leave early, also please let us know ahead of time. With in person full group/classroom format classes, CDs expect you to stay the whole time - if you have an emergency let us know and we can relay it to the teacher. Please be aware that some teachers have wrap up Q&As, give notes at end and have special lesson plans geared towards actors staying the entire time.
What Is The Cancellation Policy?
If you cancel a workshop at least 48 hours before it starts, you will receive a credit for the full amount which you can use towards any other workshop. If you cancel after the 48 hour deadline, you will not receive credit unless your spot is filled and the class is sold out. Certain workshops/classes may have different policies regarding cancellation, so please check the information provided or contact us with any questions.
What Scene Can I Bring In?
Always check the "Sides Note" on the class event page on what scenes that particular class requires.
For Classes where you provide your own scenes, please see below:
You can bring in your own material - this is only permissable if the show/film has ALREADY aired or never will. You can not bring in scenes from current auditions. To get your own sides checked and approved, please email them to: brett@acestudiosla.com. Please label the file: YourName_ROLE_TV/FilmName - Make sure to list the Film/TV show (and episode # so that we can verify it's already aired) in the email to us. This is a CSA rule that all workshop companies have to follow. Our only other rule is that the scene must be a maximum of 3 pages-- if you wish to use sides with several scenes, please choose a scene or cut them accordingly. This includes any sides we have listed on our site.
We do have an ACE Library that you can choose from if you want - email us for the link. You can also find the link when you are first logged into your ACE account (it's linked on the welcome page).
PLEASE NOTE: Certain workshops may list specific genres the industry professional prefers-- these are not mandatory, but are greatly encouraged. However, if the workshop details state that you must use the sides provided by that specific industry professional, there's no way around it. They have chosen those sides for a reason, and it's mandatory that you prepare one of their selections.
Please read the workshop details carefully, as refunds will not be provided if you fail to prepare the correct sides.
Are your Q&A's mandatory?
YES - we (as well as our CDs) require that all actors attend the Q&A. We begin every class with them for a reason - they are a tremendous way to learn many things that are specific to each individual CD. If you absolutely can't attend, you MUST email us in advance to let us know.
Will the guest view and/or take my headshot and resume?
Please note: workshops are a learning experience. It is not an audition or an employment opportunity. When the workshop is over, the casting director/casting associate/casting assistant (whichever is applicable) teaching said workshop will not be taking home nor be given access to your headshot, resume, or any other of your promotional materials.
However, when you perform, the guest will view your headshot and resume- they will provide feedback, take notes, and give constructive criticism. After you perform, they will return your materials. Everyone goes green!
What is your standard class curriculum?
ALWAYS, we will start with a group Q&A. In this open forum, our guest will
- Introduce themselves, talk about any show or shows that they're working on (if permitted), and how their office works.
- They will also give general audition tips, business tips and educational information on how they feel is the best way for actors to approach auditions when they are auditioning, as well as how important it is for them to keep their resumes, website, etc. updated.
- Actors are encouraged to bring as many questions as possible. Our guests love answering questions and giving actors insight to the business. Other topics included are headshots, the importance of being prepared, specifics on comedy/drama, and the importance of honing cold reading skills.
After the Q&A, actors will perform scenes for the guest. These will be performed in either:
- Full group setting for all actors to watch and learn. They will hear all feedback and redirects. (All online classes follow a full group format).
- Small Group Setting, where actors will go into the room in groups of 3-5. One actor will perform at a time, while the other actors watch feedback and redirection. After each other in the group has performed, everyone will leave.
- Dynamic Duo, where actors will go into the room in groups of 2. They will perform one at a time, while the other actor watches feedback and redirection. Once both actors have performed, they will leave and the next duo will go in the room.
- If more questions arrive in either of these settings, they too will be answered!
The guest will provide feedback and/or re-directs whenever possible. The guests will not be taking the headshots, but actors should still bring them so the guest can provide feedback and comments on both pictures and resumes.

Do you offer refunds?
No, we do not offer refunds for workshop cancellations or reschedules. Workshop times and dates are subject to change, as our guests keep very busy schedules. However, we will always credit your ACE Studios account what was paid: that credit can be used towards a future purchase.
Do you offer "Go Earlies?"
Yes, you are allowed to "go early" and get bumped up on the list for any event. Please note the following:
- You MUST email at least 24 hours before the start of the class you are requesting it for. You will always get a response back, and once your request is received, we will adjust the list.
- There may be people that have requested to go early ahead of you, so we can't always guarantee that you will get moved into the first slot.
- You are only allowed to do this THREE times a year, after that, you must stick with the slot you registered for.
Email with any further questions!
How do I cancel an event?
Cancelling a class is easy-- just login to your account and check your upcoming activities. Click on the workshop you wish to cancel, and the next page will include a CANCEL button.
Please note-- we have a 48 hour cancellation policy. If you are outside that window, your account will automatically be credited the amount paid for the event. In the case that you cancel less than 48 hours before, your account will only be credited if your spot is filled. NOTE: This will only happen if the spot is filled in a sold out workshop.
Where can I view the CSA Workshop Guidelines?
We are committed to following all of the CSA Guidelines for workshops. They can be viewed here:
How does the waitlist system work?
If you have tried to register for a class that is full, you have the option of adding yourself to the waitlist. If a spot happens to open before the class starts, everyone on the list will get an automatic notification email. If you are the first person to sign up, the spot is yours.
Also, if you arrive in person and wish to be added to a waitlist, we will let you know if any spots have become available. If not, we will write your name down and if someone happens to late cancel, you can take the spot.
Where do I park?
We have reserved spaces in the lot along the side of the building. You can park in any space that says "ACE Studios" or that is blank. Please keep "ACE Tapes" & "ACE Studios CDs Only" open for teachers. There is also parking out front on Victory blvd, Orange Grove Ave, and Palm Ave - please read street signs though.

- A journal to take notes if you wish-- we will not provide you with these.
How do I register for an event?
